จากข่าวการทดลองเกี่ยวกับ ‘สารสกัดของกระชายขาว’ ว่ามีฤทธิ์ต้านโควิดได้จริงหรือไม่? โดยโครงการวิจัยต้านเชื้อไวรัสโคโรนาจากสมุนไพรไทย ที่เป็นความร่วมมือระหว่าง คณะวิทยาศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล คณะแพทยศาสตร์โรงพยาบาลรามาธิบดี มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล และศูนย์ความเป็นเลิศด้านชีววิทยาศาสตร์ (องค์การมหาชน) หรือ TCELS
เราอยากเน้นย้ำให้ผู้อ่านเข้าใจว่าขณะนี้ยังอยู่ในระหว่างการวิจัยเท่านั้น ซึ่งแม้จะปรากฏผลความสำเร็จเบื้องต้นที่พบว่าสารสกัดกระชายขาวมีฤทธิ์ในการยับยั้งการผลิตตัวไวรัสออกจากเซลล์ และช่วยลดจำนวนเซลล์ที่ติดเชื้อได้จากสารสำคัญ 2 ตัวที่มีอยู่ในกระชายขาวคือ Panduratin A และ Pinostrobin แต่ทางนักวิจัยมหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ก็คาดการณ์ว่าจะใช้เวลาอย่างน้อย 1 ปีในการวิจัยและพัฒนาให้สำเร็จ ขณะนี้งานวิจัยกระชายขาวอยู่ในขั้นตอนการศึกษาวิจัยในคน
ดังนั้นจากกระแสในโลกออนไลน์ที่มีการหันมาบริโภคกระชายขาวผ่านวิธีการต้มให้เดือดแล้วดื่ม หรือนำไปประกอบอาหารนั้น จึงเป็นการบริโภคที่สามารถทำได้เพื่อมุ่งเน้นไปที่การบำรุงร่างกาย ช่วยต้านอนุมูลอิสระ กระตุ้นการไหลเวียนของเลือด ด้วยความเป็นสมุนไพรไทยทำให้กระชายขาวยังมีฤทธิ์ในการลดการอักเสบไปในตัว เช่นคนที่เป็นโรคกระเพาะอาหารอักเสบ เหงือกอักเสบ มีแผลในช่องปาก ท้องเสีย ท้องอืด ท้องเฟ้อ และแก้โรคหวัด แก้อาการปวดศีรษะ และมีส่วนสำคัญในการลดไขมันในเลือดได้ดี
วิธีที่ดีและได้ผลในการป้องกันโรคโควิด จึงควรให้ความสำคัญไปที่การรักษาความสะอาด สวมใส่หน้ากากอนามัย 100% อย่างถูกหลัก ถูกชนิด และถูกต้องกับสถานที่ที่ไป (อ่านเพิ่มเติมที่นี่) ล้างมือด้วยสบู่ และแอลกอฮอล์ทุกครั้งที่สัมผัส, หลีกเลี่ยงการสัมผัสตา จมูก ปาก, เว้นระยะห่างอย่างน้อย 1-2 เมตร
ส่วนกระชายขาวหากจะนำมาบริโภค ไม่ว่าจะดื่มหรือประกอบอาหาร เราก็มีไอเดียมาฝากว่ากระชายขาวทำอะไรได้บ้าง และยังมีข้อระวังในการบริโภคกระชายขาวดังนี้
1. ไม่แนะนำในเด็ก สตรีมีครรภ์ และสตรีให้นมบุตร
2. ผู้ที่ตับอักเสบมากควรปรึกษาแพทย์
3. ควรหลีกเลี่ยงในผู้ที่ได้รับยาละลายลิ่มเลือด ยาต้านการแข็งตัวของเลือดหรือเกล็ดเลือด และผู้ที่มีโรคเกล็ดเลือดต่ำ
4. หากทานคู่กับฟ้าทะลายโจร ต้องคำนวณปริมาณให้เหมาะสม
5. ไม่ควรบริโภคกระชายต่อเนื่องเป็นเวลานาน เนื่องจากกระชายมีฤทธิ์ร้อน อาจส่งผลให้เกิดอาการร้อนใน หรือเป็นแผลในปากตามมา
